The Utility Menu contains the AMVER SEAS Utilites:
Archiving Meteorological Data -This saves
the Archive MET to disk by. The utility compresses the Admin.txt and Archive_Met.txt
file and saves it onto floppy or to the selected disk location. The Archive_Met.txt
file is then deleted. In addition the compressed file is also saved in the AMVERSEAS
directory under Report_Seas\SaveData. All archives are backed up to this directory.
These archives must be manually removed from this directory to avoid using excess
disk space. The Compressed file is named in the following format: 'CallSign'.met.'JulianDate'.zip.
This file can be read using WinZip. In addition PKZIP can be used if the file
is renamed to an abbreviated name such as met.zip.

Set Time Zone -This is a help dialog that informs
the user how to set up the correct computer time for the AMVERSEAS program to
operate properly. (See Setup Procedures, Time
Setup.)
Run External Process - This function runs the batch file GoSeas.bat using the ASCII.sea and the TIME.cfg file. ASCII.sea contains the last BBXX message. TIME.cfg contains the date/time (DDTTTT) that ASCII.sea was saved.
Backup Sail Plans - This program will
copy all the SailPlans in the AMVERSEAS\SailPlans directory to the user specified
location.
